Emma Truman
As a child my dream was to work within a creative field; I always loved to draw and paint and won a number of competitions whilst at school.
Growing up in the picturesque county of Derbyshire, I moved to the city and successfully completed a HND in Surface pattern at Stockport.
During the course we worked closely with industry, regularly undertaking live briefs covering a wide spectrum of design areas.
This gave me a good grounding which later proved invaluable to my career.
I attended the Surtex show in New York during my final year of the course and this marked the beginning of my future within the design business.
I have now worked within the greetings and giftware market for seven years, incorporating a number of styles and medias, and a useful crossover has meant that within the last three years I have begun to develop myself within the textile business specialising in children’s bedding.
I thoroughly enjoy the variety and freedom that working within the two different design areas bring, each one feeding the other to enable me to develop new techniques and looks.
